Cameron-Cole Approved as a Greenhouse Gas Verification Body Under Washington State Reporting
ALAMEDA, CA – January 24, 2024 (Newswire.com) — Cameron-Cole, an ADEC Innovation, announces it has been approved as a greenhouse gas (GHG) verification body under Washington State’s broadened quality assurance mechanism: third-party emissions verification.
Businesses emitting more than 10,000 metric tons of CO2-equivalent per year are tasked with reporting their emissions to Washington State’s GHG Reporting Program, established in 2020. In 2024, businesses emitting greater than 25,000 metric tons of CO2-equivalent per year must undergo third party verification for emissions year 2023 data.
Cameron-Cole, a full-service environmental and regulatory compliance firm with nationwide operations, was among the first 14 firms to become an approved verification body for the Department of Ecology (DOE) Washington State’s GHG Reporting Program’s new requirements. Verification bodies must meet certain requirements to be recognized in Washington, including active accreditation in California and demonstration of sufficient knowledge of Washington State regulations.
“We are excited to be among the first group of organizations to be accredited by Washington State as a GHG Verification Body under the expanded requirements” said Mallory Andrews, Head of Verification Services, Cameron-Cole. “Our team has successfully verified several hundred GHG emissions reports for clients across virtually all industrial sectors, and Cameron-Cole is well positioned to help organizations throughout the state of Washington navigate these new GHG emissions verification requirements.”
Under the new requirements, verification must be completed by August 10th for GHG emissions occurring in the previous calendar year.

OpenX Reports 2022 Emissions, Achieves Net-Zero Targets for The Second Straight Year
PASADENA, CA – June 20, 2023 — OpenX Technologies, Inc., one of the world’s leading omnichannel supply-side platforms today announced that the company has achieved their Net- Zero targets for the second year in a row. The announcement is in conjunction with the reporting of the company’s 2022 greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory conducted by third-party environmental consultancy firm Cameron-Cole, an ADEC Innovation. At the same time, OpenX was re-certified as CarbonNeutral by Climate Impact Partners.
OpenX’s 2022 emissions report finds that the company produced 1243 tCO2e in 2022, approximately double the amount that the company produced in 2021. The cause for the increase is business growth, additional business travel, and a return of in-person gatherings post Covid-19 pandemic. Despite the increase in emissions from post-pandemic business activity, OpenX was able to maintain their Net-Zero status, with an approximate 95% reduction compared to the base reporting year of 2018, when OpenX began reporting emissions.
OpenX is dedicated to the GHG reporting process and believes that transparent emissions reporting is the key to accountability as well as building trust with employees, partners, clients, governments in addition to the global population. OpenX continues to publicly report emissions, to ensure that others will become comfortable with the normal GHG emissions fluctuations that occur over time, and to encourage meaningful conversations about the intersection of business growth and sustainability.
“While we’re proud to achieve our Net-Zero targets for a second year in a row, the most important part of this journey is not our Net-Zero status, but our commitment to transparent emissions measurement and reporting so that we can continue to align with the existing global standards while keeping our emissions at the lowest possible levels and continuing to grow our business,” said John Gentry, CEO at OpenX. “Real change comes from transparency, strategy, and process, and we’re continuing to share our story to encourage every company in our industry to measure and report their emissions so that we can collectively make strides towards a more sustainable future.”
Joining Debies on the panel will be Mike Stephenson, Principal Scientist and Western Regional Manager for Cameron-Cole; Rob Fagerness, Senior Engineer with FCS; and Brian Myller, President and Chief Hydrogeologist of ADEC Innovations Professional Services.

FCS and Cameron-Cole Share PFAS Expertise at AEP CA State Conference
IRVINE, CA – April 5, 2023 — Environmental experts from Cameron-Cole and FirstCarbon Solutions (FCS), both ADEC Innovations companies, will share first-hand experience regarding per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) at the Association of Environmental Professionals (AEP) CA State Conference April 23-26 in Lake Tahoe, CA.
PFAS—often called “forever chemicals” due to how slowly they break down over time—are increasingly found in the air, soil, water, and humans. The most recent studies on human health effects have led the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to propose PFAS standards for drinking water that are especially stringent at the parts per trillion level. Litigation risk appears to be growing in step with increasing regulation.
Cameron-Cole and FCS’s panel discussion, PFAS: How to Navigate this 21st Century Challenge, will be held Tuesday, April 25, and will discuss the history and future of PFAS, including new regulatory standards and associated liability under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA). Additionally, panelists will discuss the risk management processes, remediation strategies, and potential funding sources to support organizations facing PFAS risk and regulatory challenges.
“With the latest EPA ruling, regulators will soon require greater PFAS testing frequency in drinking water, wastewater, stormwater, soil, and groundwater sites,” says Liza Debies, FCS Environmental Services Project Manager and panel moderator. “It’s critical to understand this rapidly evolving landscape, and this panel will provide resources intended to help our audience make better-informed decisions.”

Cameron-Cole Approved as Verification Body Under Oregon's Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program
ALAMEDA, Calif., June 29, 2022 (Newswire.com) - Cameron-Cole, an ADEC Innovation, a full-service environmental services and regulatory compliance consulting firm with nationwide operations in the United States, today announces it is an approved verification body under Oregon's Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program.
The Environmental Quality Commission (EQC) approved Oregon's original greenhouse gas (GHG) reporting rules in 2008, which established GHG registering, reporting, and other requirements for facilities that emit GHGs, including fuel and electricity suppliers. Oregon third-party verification requirements apply to 2021 calendar year data submitted beginning in the spring of 2022. Verification generally applies to large facilities and suppliers submitting reports with GHG emissions equal to or greater than 25,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (MTCO2e) in the prior calendar year.
Cameron-Cole was among the first group of companies to become an approved verification body for the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) Oregon's Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program in December 2021. Cameron-Cole is approved to perform verification activities for DEQ Oregon's Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program for all emission sources and for all industrial sectors, including stationary combustion sources, electricity suppliers, fuel suppliers, natural gas suppliers, natural gas systems, and facility process emissions. Only DEQ-approved verification bodies may be engaged by responsible entities to provide verification services in Oregon.
"We are thrilled to receive approval as one of the first firms to lead the charge in this new era of mandatory verification for Oregon GHG reporters," said Chris Lawless, Director, Greenhouse Gas Management Services, Cameron-Cole. "With a combined 40 years of emissions verification experience, Cameron-Cole is perfectly poised to help organizations throughout the state as they navigate the challenges that come with new reporting mandates."
Under the new verification requirements, verification statements are due for permit holders, petroleum and natural gas systems, natural gas suppliers, and fuel suppliers and producers on August 31. Verification statements for electricity suppliers are due September 30.
