Petroleum Release Management

Cameron-Cole was contracted to evaluate the release of fuel oil from a 12,000-barrel storage tank. A subsurface investigation was conducted, which included a collection and laboratory analysis of soil samples, installation of groundwater monitoring wells, and completion of a sensitive receptor survey. The volume of impacted media was quantified, and the chemicals of concern were specified using fractional analyses. This data was then used to develop a risk assessment. Cameron-Cole was able to demonstrate through the appropriate use of fate and transport models that the impacted media would not adversely impact human health or the environment. The findings of the risk assessment eliminated the need to conduct a costly source removal in the area. The client was able to apply for a “No Further Action” closure for this release
